Service directory

We thought it would be helpful to publish the names marine service people we’ve used and recommend, for the other boaters who follow us.  While I’d love to say we’re compensated for publishing their info here, we’re not – we just want to share info for folks we’ve used and trusted! We’ll add to the list as we find great people in the course of our travels.

If you want more detail on the work they’ve done for us, just send us an email and we’ll be happy to answer any questions. Also, a hint – these guys, at least the marine repair ones, basically forced Brian to participate in the work so that he was learning. If you’re using someone who doesn’t want you to be involved, you’ve got the wrong contractor!

Stuart Dodd

Stu answered the call to fix our starboard toilet pump within hours of calling him.  When he came by the day after it was replaced to pick up his check, he quickly fixed an unrelated electrical issue, followed by identifying the issue of the toilet not draining due to clogged hoses.  He got right in there to rip them out and clear them, then got us set up with his man Brian who replaced all the remaining hoses and affixed our boat art.  Great guys and reasonable, wouldn’t hesitate to call upon them again.

What can I say other than that Pete is awesome? He was super professional, on time, in budget, is to this day available to us via phone or text no matter where we are. He can do it all when it comes to electrical and mechanical systems, and he won’t stop until it’s done right. You can’t do better.

Oh, Collin. He’s a friend now, and while we don’t have any experience with other riggers, he is undoubtedly the best there is. While we ended up spending a pretty penny redoing pretty much all of our rigging in June 2013, we know it is done right and it is done properly with top notch gear, and we’re safe, and we’ve added value to the boat.

Brian’s dad said he wanted to gift us a new cockpit enclosure and dodger, and these guys were the right ones for the job. We were so well protected on our trip south down the ICW by our incredibly well-fabricated and installed enclosure, and if we could spring for it, I wouldn’t hesitate to have them redo all of our cushions…or any other work, really!

In June 2014, we sat at the dock waiting, and waiting, and waiting for the “one game in town” re: Yanmar service to come out and work on fixing our issues with the loss of RPM’s on one of our engines, as well as a general review of the state that both of them were in.  We got so sick of waiting that we got Larry’s name from a cruising friend, and boy, are we glad we did!  He was at the dock the next day, identified the issue and had the part ordered in the next two days, and we were out of there a week later.  We’ll be visiting him again in October 2014 to do our much needed maintenance!

Lewis Marine Repair
Tim Lewis
508-364-6334

We knew the issue with our generator was a busted freshwater pump, and Tim was not only recommended by friends on the island, he just so happened to be an authorized Westerbeke dealer! Came out 5 minutes after calling him, had the part on order 5 minutes after that, and as soon as it came in he was out to the boat to install it.
