When I first titled this post, I wrote Week 3, because it sure feels like it’s been that long! I suppose it’s been 10 days since my last post so…somewhere in between. Since then we’ve made it basically from one end of South Carolina to the other…tonight we’re anchored at Daufuskie Island, just north of Savannah, GA, site of the very awesome Marshside Mama’s (unfortunately closed on Tuesdays in winter), also where Brian may or may not have fallen off the dinghy when trying to start it after a few beers when we were here in the spring.
We had a rough day of weather south of Georgetown to Isle of Palms, SC, where we spent two nights over Thanksgiving, partaking in the awesome buffet the marina restaurant put on. I was super excited to have ham on Thanksgiving, not being the biggest turkey fan! Then two days from there to Beaufort, where we spent a few nights at the great Lady’s Island Marina. Got to meet up with a few other cruisers I’ve been in touch with from the “Women Who Sail” Facebook page, and had a chance to get the cats all set with their required shots for the Bahamas. We hope that we might be able to make it to Florida by Friday or Saturday, and will be happily enjoying the awesome beer bars in St. Augustine a day after that. When will we make it to Brian’s dad’s in Fort Lauderdale? Most definitely about a week or so before Christmas – we know it should take 6 days or so on the ICW (with, hopefully, some short runs on the outside) from St. Augustine.
Not much else to report! Besides, really, all you want to see are pretty sunset pictures, right? Here are a few I took tonight with the fancy camera my mom got us, that I don’t use nearly enough…still working out the kinks, but enjoy!
